About
We believe the true measure of a student ministry or even a believer is to measure their volume. No, not how many people are there but their depth x width x height. You see, we believe that depth is important because it is a measure of how deep a student is going in there walk with God. We think width is important because it is important to reach out to others. In fact, it’s not only important, it’s our responsibility. Finally, we think height is important because our focus is to be upward in worship and obedience.
Our mission is to help students grow in the areas of depth, width and height. We exist to help them grow deeper with God, reach out to a lost world, and worship their Creator.
At Volume we value a lot of things but following is a list of our core values:
Biblical Center – Teaching needs to be based on the Bible and must be in accordance to the Scriptures.
Relationships – Acts 2 tells us that relationships are important. It is important that we challenge and be challenged to grow closer to God through godly relationships.
Authenticity – We believe that real Christians need to be real. About who they are and who they want to be. We believe that a true relationship with Christ must be authentic or it doesn’t help anyone.
Authority – We are each subject to someone and someone is subject to each of us. We believe that as Christ is our ultimate authority He has placed other authority over us. Bosses and parents are just a couple of examples. Our relationship with Christ is reflected in our relationship with other sources of authority.
Service – Mark 10:45 explains that Jesus did not come to be served but to serve, we as emulators of Christ should serve as well. If we are to truly be Christ like we must serve others.
Accessibility – It is important for the Youth Pastor and Youth Coaches to be accessible to the students. We also encourage parents to be accessible to their students and students to be accessible to each other. We cannot grow together if we are not together.
Wisdom – We value understanding of life, of God, and of the Bible. We believe that God has not called his children to be ignorant. We believe that a grasp on God’s wisdom will transform the words, thoughts, and actions of each student, thus impacting the world around them.
Youth Coaches
A quick word about the people who work with your student at the volume student ministry.
• Youth Coaches are volunteers who are called by God to minister to 7-12 graders.
• Youth Coaches are trusted and active members in good standing at National Heights Baptist Church.
• Perspective Youth Coaches must be involved in the church for at least one semester before being considered.
• Youth group graduates must take at least one year off before being considered for the position of Youth Coach.
• All Youth Coaches must endure a background check and the paper work is in the church office.
• The Youth Coach position is a one year commitment which starts and ends at the beginning of each school year.
• Youth Coaches are instructed not to be alone with a student of the opposite sex and they are encouraged to spend time with same sex students in public situations.
• Youth Coaches are expected to be above reproach and exhibit appropriate boundaries as they interact with students.
Drivers
These are the people responsible for transportation for youth trips.
• Drivers must be over 21 years of age.
• Drivers must not be over the age of 70.
• Drivers must have a copy of their current drivers license on file with the church.
• If we go out of the state we have a minimum of two drivers per vehicle and we prefer to have at least three.
Injuries
We do everything possible to safeguard the students from any harm. If however a student is injured at a volume activity the leader is to:
• Seek appropriate medical attention for the injured.
• Contact the Youth Pastor.
• The Youth Pastor will contact the parent.
• The leader is then to fill out an incident report.
Medical Release Forms
Medical needs of students are always changing. Because of this we must require a signed medical release for most trips and all trips away from Springfield. This is also designed to keep the parent informed on the location of the Student. For some trips within the City limits by dropping your student off at the church or by letting them come the parent grants us permission to transport there student. If their is some sort of injury the parent will be contacted according to the injuries policy written above.
Medications
If a student attending an activity is taking a prescription medication, the information for that medication needs to be listed on the medical release form and the medication needs to be given to the leader in the original pharmacy labeled prescription bottle.
